Education System in Tripura

School education in Tripura is offered through a number of pre-primary, primary, middle, high and higher secondary schools. The Government of Tripura has implemented free and compulsory education for students up to the age of 14. Schools in Tripura are either state run or under the management of private organisations. The syllabus at primary schools is established by the Directorate of Secondary Education, Tripura.

Most schools are affiliated to TBSE. Also, there are several schools in the state affiliated to the CBSE or CISCE etc. For details of school boards see Apex Bodies

The primary language of instruction in schools in Tripura is English or Bengali, but other languages are also used. The government has introduced Kokborok and Chakma in schools, and students can also study other languages like Halam, Kuki, Mizo, Manipuri, and Garo.
